What is Cultural Capital?

Cultural capital refers to the accumulation of knowledge, behaviours and skills that a child can draw upon to be successful in society, life and the world of work. It is about equipping children with the essential background knowledge to understand the world and thrive within it.

At Oak View, we view cultural capital as providing our pupils with the necessary foundation to become well-rounded, thoughtful and effective members of the community.

We ensure all pupils can access a variety of extra-curricular opportunities, regardless of background.

  • Clubs: Participation in a diverse range of activities including Football, Archery and Choir.

  • Enrichment: Year 1 - 6 take part in Enrichment activities like Trumpets, Fencing and Coding.
  • Experiential Learning: We aim to provide opportunities for residential trips, outdoor activities and community projects.

  • Celebrating Diversity: Engaging with and celebrating the diverse cultural heritage within our school community and the wider world through dedicated events and curriculum content.
